Meet twelve year old Gemma Martin. She wants to be an actress, but school is getting in the way. Initially, Gemma’s stolen project story skyrockets her popularity, but it isn’t long before things start to spiral out of control and Gemma is headed for disaster. About the Author
Michelle Adams is not of the modern, fast-paced world. She exists in a realm where everyone has enough time to hear a good story, and the joy of growing and cooking your own food is the norm. Neighbours trade things over the fence and a tribe of children trample through the house on a daily basis. Some of them live here, but many others float in and out upon wafting aromas or wandering welcome bubbles. This is a happy place where the magic of imagination is alive and well.

Having read the manuscript of this brilliant piece of children’s fiction long before any idea of publication had been dreamed up, I knew that it had the potential to go very far as a young persons’ novel.
I look forward to when I can hold the hard copy in my own hands knowing what an extraordinary achievement this fantastic author/cook/super-mum has made.

I purchased a copy of ‘No Ordinary Excuse’ for my 12 year old at the book launch. Ms B made the mistake of putting the book down in the lounge while she went to do something where I walked past and picked it up. I finished it this morning. What a great story! So many issues facing our tweens are addressed in Michelle’s story teller style. I thoroughly enjoyed Gemma’s journey and I am sure that all tweens could find someone to identify with. I loved the way Ms Haven is written – I am not a teacher but love the way she is a proactive educator rather than the way teachers are usually portrayed – you know the bumbling fool who hates children! Well done Michelle it was a pleasure and I look forward to your next creation.

I purchased 3 copies of No Ordinary Excuse, two were gifts for my neighbours children. Every child that has picked up the book (9 to 13 years of age) has been unable to put it down, they have taken the book to school to read it and told their teachers all about it. I have heard that they now classify Michelle Adams as a Famous Australian author. Well that is probably on the cards if her first book is anything to go by. I am now waiting on my turn to read this wonderful book that my children have thoroughly enjoyed.

I stayed up late last night, too late – because I couldn’t put your book down until I’d finished it. What a fantastic weaving of plots, a beautifully written story, and who says it’s for 12 year olds? I’m 63 (ouch) and I LOVED IT. I can’t wait for my Grand-daughters to get their copies & hear their responses.
You certainly are a wonderful writer & I can’t wait for your next book.
